Deepavali festival week is here: TN permits extra movie shows

As far as travelling or touring cinemas are concerned, an additional morning show is permitted from Friday to Monday, and an additional matinee show is permitted from Tuesday to Thursday.

CHENNAI: The State goverment permitted additional movie shows for theatres for the upcoming "Deepavali festival week" from Friday till Thursday, October 27. A GO was issued to give effect to the permission.

According to the order, theatres will get an additional morning show on Friday and from Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (October 25 to 27). Already, theatres have permission to run additional shows on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and on public holidays (Deepavali).

As far as travelling or touring cinemas are concerned, an additional morning show is permitted from Friday to Monday, and an additional matinee show is permitted from Tuesday to Thursday.

In case of normal theatres, the additional morning show will start at 9 am and the final show will end at 1.30 am. For traveling cinemas, additional morning show will start at 11.30 am and additional matinee show at 2.30 pm.

The GO also mandates the licensees of both the normal theatres and touring talkies to intimate licencing authorities and also other tax officers concerned having jurisdiction over the place of exhibition in advance.

The request to permit additional shows was made by representatives of Tamil Nadu Film Exhibitors Association following which it was granted.
