CHENNAI: A day after DMK leader and Chief Minister MK Stalin expressed his displeasure and anguish over the conduct of senior party leaders and Ministers in the party general council meeting, Hindu ideologue S Gurumurthy claimed that the DMK president was unhappy with persons, who spoke against Sanatana Dharma and Hinduism. He expressed his “helplessness” from stopping them, but failed to give a solution to the issue.

“We know that he did not sleep and he is in pain, but he is not in a position to say who is the cause for such pain and anguish. Only we can feel sorry for him and his state of position. But one thing is clear that he dislikes people talking against Sanatana Dharma and Hinduism and he is not able to stop that,” Gurumurthy told reporters on Monday, referring to Stalin’s speech.

The Chief Minister, during the party general council meeting, stated the conduct of some of the senior leaders, Ministers and functionaries was giving him sleepless nights. “I cannot say he is right or wrong, but people around him are not right,” said Gurumurthy while opining that the CM is functioning appropriately.

Criticising the ruling party as a family-run outfit and it would remain intact until the family remains united, he said, “there is always a perpetual question hanging over the DMK party whether the family can sustain it.”

He further said that Palaniswami-led AIADMK would be reduced to a smaller party, if the factions fail to come together against the DMK.

The BJP did not want the AIADMK to split. But, the leaders of the prime Opposition want it to remain divided. It would provide an opportunity to the BJP to emerge as a force against the ruling DMK. It would happen when people look for a force against the DMK, he said in response to a question if AIADMK’s factionalism would strengthen the saffron party to emerge as an alternative force in TN to the DMK.
