1 COVID fatality takes TN death toll to 38,048
TN has over 4,800 active cases now, of which 2,285 are in Chennai. After 12,248 samples were tested, TN’s overall test positivity rate stood at 3.1%. Ranipet recorded the highest with 5.9%.
CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu recorded 366 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, including 3 cases from Australia. Total number of cases crossed 35.86 lakh. Chennai reported 85 new cases, Chengalpattu had 32 cases and Coimbatore had 25. TN has over 4,800 active cases now, of which 2,285 are in Chennai. After 12,248 samples were tested, TN’s overall test positivity rate stood at 3.1%. Ranipet recorded the highest with 5.9%. One death was recorded in the past 24 hours. A 56-years-old man from Chengalpattu, who was tested positive for COVID, was admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital with chronic decompensated liver disease, complaints of shortness of breath and altered sensorium. He died on the same day due to viral pneumonia. Death toll reached 38,048.
