Overall dip in new Covid count; Chennai’s cases remain highest

CHENNAI: With 489 new cases of COVID-19, Tamil Nadu witnessed a slight dip on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to over 35.84 lakh. The overall test positivity rate (TPR) stood at 3.6%, after 13,742 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
The highest TPR of 6.3% was reported in Tiruppur. Active cases stood at 5,415 with Chennai recording the highest – 2,352.
Chennai reported 101 new cases, Chengalpattu had 44 and Coimbatore recorded 33.
As many as 540 people were discharged from several hospitals across the State, taking total recoveries to 35,40,640. With no more new fatalities deaths due to COVID-19, the death toll stood at 38,047.
