CHENNAI: Chief Minister M K Stalin on Thursday inaugurated the Chief Minister's Fellowship Programme in which 30 young talents were recruited and will be training on various subjects related to the State government to improve the administration and better implementation of policies with the help of the available data.

"The programme will help the government in attaining the goals of the schemes and to help the schemes reach every nook and corner of the State. It will also help identify the gaps in implementation of schemes and will suggest solutions. With the help of prevailing technologies the schemes will be implemented in a better manner and decisions will be taken based on the data available." said Chief Minister Stalin, after inaugurating the programme.

Under this, 30 young talents were recruited from thousands of applicants after three rounds of tests and interviews. Initially, the 30 youngsters will be given training by field experts for 30 days in classrooms following which they will be sent for field visits in select areas.

The training is provided by Bharathidasan Management school, part of Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, in Anna Administrative Staff college in Chennai. The 30 youngsters will be closely working with the State government for two years and after the period they will be given postgraduate certificate in public policy and management.

After the completion of the 30 days classroom training program, the 30 young talents will be divided into 12 groups with 2 persons in each group and remaining six persons will be in coordination work.

Augmentation of water resources, agriculture production, productivity and creation of marketing linkages, housing for all, improving educational standards, improving health indicators, social inclusion, infrastructure and industrial development, skill development and entrepreneurship development, institutional credit, heritage and culture, ecological balance and data governance are the 12 thematic areas in which the young talents will work.

They will be guided by renowned intellectuals such as former RBI Governor Raguram Rajan, Nobel Laureate Esther Dufflo and professors from top educational institutes from the country. The youngsters will be given a monthly stipend of Rs 65,000 along with Rs 10,000 as allowance for two years.

While inaugurating the program, the Chief Minister distributed laptops to the young talents in the presence of Finance Minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan and Chief Secretary V Irai Anbu.
