Kamal urges TN, police to protect Law and Order with iron fist

Stating that MNM was not BJP fans, but the volunteers of democracy, he said, "(We believe) politics is for the people. It is animal nature to seek to overcome it by violence. Anyone who has the nature of an animal does not belong to walk freely in the country."

CHENNAI: Expressing shock over the incidents of petrol bombs attack on the houses and vehicles belonging to BJP, Hindu Munnani and RSS cadres in Tamil Nadu, actor and Makkal Needhi Maiam founder Kamal Haasan urged the State government and the police department to protect Law and Order and peace with an iron fist against those who are trying to turn State into a culture of bomb-riots.

"Incidents of violence have taken place in many places on a single day. Following this, thousands of police and special forces have been deployed, which has created tension among the people. None of the suspects involved in these incidents have been arrested so far. No one who believes in democracy will remain silent while watching such violence. Such incidents risk triggering large-scale riots," Haasan said in a statement.

Stating that MNM was not BJP fans, but the volunteers of democracy, he said, "(We believe) politics is for the people. It is animal nature to seek to overcome it by violence. Anyone who has the nature of an animal does not belong to walk freely in the country."

Haasan reiterated that his party is against any form of violence. "MNM and I strongly oppose those who think that the upcoming Gandhi Jayanti can be celebrated with blood. Under no circumstances will we allow a culture of violence on Tamil Nadu soil," he said.
