CHENNAI: BJP state president K Annamalai on Sunday announced the formation of the four teams headed by MLAs to assess the situation and damages caused by the hurling of petrol bombs at the residences and offices of the saffron party, Hindu Munnani and RSS functionaries across the State.
In the statement, he said that MLA MR Gandhi headed team would visit areas in the Kanniyakumari-Madurai region while Vanathi Srinivasan would visit places in Coimbatore.
BJP legislative party leader Nainar Nagendran would visit the Villupuram-Chennai region while MLA CK Saraswathi will visit the Vellore-Salem region.
“The teams will directly visit the places hit by petrol bombs to assess the damages and submit a report to the party’s State leadership,” he said.
Speaking to reporters in Coimbatore, Annamalai said that he had spoken to the Union Home Minister over the phone. “He has promised to take appropriate action,” he said, adding that the reports submitted by the MLAs would be sent to Home Minister.
Welcoming the DGP C Sylendar Babu’s statement to book under NSA all those guilty of arson and violence targetting the BJP cadres across the State, Annamalai on Sunday said that the police should act and not merely issue statements.
