TIRUVALLUR: There was high drama at a theatre in Tiruvallur when the police arrested a 22-year-old medical student for pretending to be a police officer and harassing the theatre staff on Thursday. The accused was identified as Sivaprakasam, a student of the radiology department at a private college in Chrompet.
Sivaprakasam, who was wearing a police uniform, entered the theatre located at Manavalan Nagar on Wednesday morning at 11 am and randomly began to question the theatre staff. Sivaprakasam also said that he wanted to enter the movie hall and check if any students were present there for the morning show.
“He claimed to be a police officer attached to Avadi Commissioner’s office which triggered suspicions of the theatre staff who immediately informed the police,” police said.
A police team rushed to the spot and arrested the accused. Further investigations revealed that Sivaprakasam was pursuing his fourth year course in radiology. “We are enquiring him to see if he has pretended to be a policeman and conned anyone else,” police said.
