CHENNAI: NIA has started search operation in over 12 premises belonging to PFI across Tamil Nadu, including its HQ in Purusaiwakkam on Thursday morning amidst protests from cadres.
Sources said that PFI has been receiving foreign funds which the outfit has been planning to use in India for unlawful activities.
It may be noted that the NIA has carried out searches in the premises of PFI office bearers in AP and Telengana a couple of days back. "Based on inputs received in the search operations further raids are being carried out in TN," sources said.
NIA has been accusing the PFI of being an extremist outfit which the organisation has been stoutly denying saying that it is BJP's attempt to spread hate.
