Security guard dies after auto hits pig

TIRUVALLUR: In a freak accident, a 65-year-old man died when an auto he was travelling in turned turtle after it hit a pig near Tiruvallur on Sunday night. The victim identified as Chandran, a resident of Sivapuram village, worked as a security guard at a private firm. On Sunday night, Chandran finished work and took an auto rickshaw back home. “As the vehicle neared Irulacheri, a pig suddenly ran across the street. The auto driver who could not halt the vehicle on time hit the pig and the auto turned turtle,” police said. While the driver escaped with minor injuries, Chandran hit his head in the fall. He was rushed to a private hospital in Thandalam by passersby, but he died shortly. Mappedu police have registered a case in this connection.
