Aspirants have been instructed to collect the applications on payment of Rs 1,000 each and return their filled in application between September 22 and 25.

CHENNAI: DMK general secretary Duraimurugan on Sunday invited applications for the election of various district-level posts, including secretaries for its party districts.

The high command has advised its party functionaries to apply for the post of presidium chairman, secretary and three deputy secretaries (One woman and Scheduled Caste representative mandatory) and treasurer per district besides high-level executive committee and general council members (one woman member compulsory) allotted for each district.

The applications can be collected on payment of Rs 1,000 each and return their filled-in applications between September 22 and 25. The party has set Rs 25,000 as a deposit for each post.

As per Duraimurugan’s announcement, filled applications for Kanyakumari,

Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Virudhunagar, Sivangangai, Ramanathapuram, Dindigul, Theni and Madurai districts would be collected at the party headquarters Anna Arivalayam on Thursday, September 22.

Applications would be collected for Nilgiri, Erode, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Namakkal, Salem, Karur and Trichy districts on

September 23.

Contestants from Pudukottai, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Cuddalore, Kallakurichi and Villupuram district can file their nominations by Saturday. Nominations from Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Chennai party districts would be received on the final day, September 25.

Functionaries proposing and seconding the nominations of applicants should be an elected town panchayat, union, city, area or district secretaries or any other district -level representative of the party. The party youth wing headed by Chepauk-Triplicane MLA Udhayanidhi Stalin is expected to give old-timers a run for their money in the district secretary election this time with the youth brigade expecting a few elevations from its camp.
