CHENNAI: Health Minister Ma Subramanian released the rank list for admission to paramedical degree and diploma courses for the year 2022-23 at the Tamil Nadu Government Multi Super-Speciality Hospital at Omandurar Government Estate on Friday.

A total of 87,764 applications have been received through the website for the paramedical and diploma courses for the year 2022-23, including degree and diploma courses for paramedics, pharmacists and nursing courses. There are at least 2,526 seats in 121 government colleges and 15,307 seats in 348 self-financed colleges.

The certificates of the candidates were also reviewed and the rank list was released by the minister.

The total number of applications received for the paramedical degree course for the general category is 58,980. Out of which, more than one application is 535, total rejected applications are 304 and total accepted applications are 58,141. As many as 15,064 male applicants and 43,077 female candidates have applied.

The Health Minister said that 5,271 applications have been received for the diploma course in pharmacy for the general category and 5,206 applications, including 1,561 from male and 3,645 from female applicants have been accepted. There were 25 double applications and rejected applications are 40.

The total number of applications received for diplomas in nursing courses for the general category is 12,624 and 12,478 applications have been accepted.

Talking about the MBBS seats in the State, the Health Minister said that there were 6,025 seats for the medical course for the year 2020-2021, out of which 336 seats were reserved under 7.5 per cent quota for government school and government-aided school students. Of the 1,954 BDS seats in the State, 99 seats were given to government school students under 7.5 per cent reservation.

"The seats for the year 2021-2022 were increased to 8,075 after approval to more seats and 445 seats were given for government school students. Likewise, for dental course seats, out of 2,060 seats, 110 seats were available for government school students under 7.5 per cent quota," said Ma Subramanian.

He added that the total number of medical course seats for the years 2022-2023 is 8,225. Out of which, 455 seats are available for government school students under 7.5 per cent reservation this year. At least 2,160 seats for dental courses are available in the State, out of which 114 seats are reserved for government school students.
