Woman, baby girl crushed to death as lorry topples over parked van

TIRUCHY: A woman and a baby were crushed to death while another woman sustained severe injuries after a lorry toppled on a stationery van where the deceased were seated in Tiruchy on Wednesday.

A group of seven family members, including Ramesh (28), his wife Priyadharshini (23), their baby girl Rakshana (2) and Rasathi (45) from Rasipuram in Namakkal came to Samayapuram Sri Mariamman Temple on Wednesday.

While returning, they stopped the car to have tea at Vathalai on Tiruchy-Salem National Highway.

Suddenly, a cement-laden lorry toppled over the parked van.

Rasathi and baby Rakshana were crushed to death on the spot and Priyadharshini sustained severe injuries in the impact.
