Canada passenger among 436 new Covid cases in TN

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu reported 436 new cases, including a case from Canada, on Friday, taking the tally to over 35.72 lakh cases of COVID-19. Chennai reported 87 new cases, Coimbatore had 57 cases and Chengalpattu reported 43 cases.

The testing of samples stood at 18,327, keeping TN’s test positivity rate at 2.4%. Tiruppur recorded the highest TPR of 7.9%. Active cases stood at 4,918 with Chennai recording the highest with 2,176 cases. As many as 442 people were discharged across the State, taking total recoveries to over 35.29 lakh. No new COVID fatality reported. Death toll remains at 38,038.
