COIMBATORE: Two persons died after consuming liquor mixed with poison in Pollachi on Monday. Police said Manoharan (58), a daily wager and Velusamy (56) a farmer and both hailing from a village near Negamam had consumed liquor in an area near Panapatti at night.
They then swooned and died on the spot. Inquiries by Negamam police revealed that Manoharan’s son-in-law Satyaraj (30), working as a marketing executive in a poultry firm in Pappampatti had given the liquor laced with poison.
Police said Satyaraj decided to kill his father-in-law to take over cash from his possession received through selling a farm. Police arrested Satyaraj and further inquiries are on.
