Horse attacked by bison in Kodaikanal suffers injuries, blood loss

MADURAI: A horse was attacked by a bison in Kodaikanal and suffered traumatic injuries including severe blood loss. The injured horse was found at Vattankai, near Kavunji village of Mannavanur panchayat, in the morning on Saturday, sources said. M Vijayakanth, who’s rearing the horse for agriculture purposes, said his animal was found on the ground bitten in several places, including the stomach and thigh. “Despite representing such issues during grievance meetings on many occasions, preventive measures are not taken,” he said. “Even after the injured horse recovers, its services cannot be used.” A single bison has been roaming on farmlands and a Forest Guard inspected the spot.
