New Covid count falls below 500 in State including city’s 75 cases

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu had 494 new COVID cases on Tuesday including a case from the UAE. This takes TN’s total number of cases to 35.69 lakh. Chennai reported 75 new cases, Coimbatore had 64 cases, and Chengalpattu and Salem recorded 33 cases respectively. TN’s active cases stood at 5,161 with Chennai reporting the highest of 2,229 cases. TN’s overall test positivity rate is 2.5% with 19,296 samples tested in 24 hours. Coimbatore recorded highest TPR of 5.9%. With 537 more people recovering from COVID-19, total recoveries reached 35.25 lakh. No new COVID fatality reported. Death toll stands at 38,035.
