Annamalai: Pay compensation before acquiring land
“After paying the compensation and providing alternate housing facilities, the government should seek land for the airport,” he added.
CHENNAI: BJP state president K Annamalai on Saturday urged the State government to build alternate housing facilities for the people to be affected by the new airport project at Parandur first and then the land should be acquired.
“Under the guise of clearing encroachments, the state government had evicted the people living along the water bodies without providing them housing facilities,” Annamalai said in a statement.
“After paying the compensation and providing alternate housing facilities, the government should seek land for the airport,” he added.
He also hit out at the DMK’s flip flop over the 8-lane Chennai-Salem greenfield expressway project. State Highways Minister EV Velu has stated that DMK has never demanded to scrap the project,” the BJP leader said, seeking an apology from the Chief Minister MK Stalin for misleading the people on the project.
