AIADMK GC meet: OPS’ request to change judge turned down
At this juncture, the HC’s cause list for Thursday revealed that Justice Krishnan Ramasamy will take the appeal case of OPS and Vairamuthu as the 48th and 49th items in his court.
CHENNAI: Even though the ousted AIADMK coordinator O Panneerselvam on Wednesday made a representation to the Madras High Court registry to list his appeal challenging the order of a single judge allowing the AIADMK general council meeting on July 11 to list it before other judges than Justice Krishnan Ramasamy, his request was rejected and the matter has been listed before Justice Ramasamy.
Senior Advocate NGR Prasad, representing OPS mentioned before the Chief Justice to change the judge for hearing his client's appeal petition. Nevertheless, the CJ observed that he was not in favor of changing the judge and noted that he would take a call after discussing with the concerned judge based on the grounds raised by OPS and his supporter Amman P Vairamuthu.
At this juncture, the HC’s cause list for Thursday revealed that Justice Krishnan Ramasamy will take the appeal case of OPS and Vairamuthu as the 48th and 49th items in his court.
Recently, when hearing the appeal petition of OPS, the CJI bench of the Supreme Court directed them to approach the HC and held that the case should be disposed of within two weeks.
Justice Krishnan Ramasamy who declined the suit of OPS on July 11 had on Tuesday noted that he would hear the matter on Thursday.
