Three arrested with idols worth Rs 30 lakh in Thanjavur
Idol wing police arrested three persons from Thanjavur and seized a metal idol of Natarajar when they attempted to sell it for Rs 30 lakh.
Tiruchy: According to idol wing police, in a vehicle check in connection with an idol theft, the team had intercepted a gang at Mariamman Koil bypass on Kumbakonam Road on Thursday afternoon. When the team interrogated them, they gave contradictory response. Subsequently they inspected their belongings in which they found a Natarajar idol weighing a kilo. Soon they seized the idol. The arrested were identified as K Prabakaran (27), A Faizal Ahamed (27) and B Shahul Ahamed (26) all from Papanasam. Further inquiry found that the gang was attempting to sell the idol for Rs 30 lakh. Subsequently, all the three were arrested and remanded on Friday.
