Three killed as speeding lorry rams parked container truck on ORR
Due to the impact of the collision, the parked container truck moved forward and hit Damodaran and Peter Rajkumar as they were standing in front of the truck. They too died on the spot.
CHENNAI: A lorry rammed a stationary container truck on the Outer Ring Road near Poonamallee in the wee hours of Tuesday in which the drivers of both the vehicles and another person died.
Police said that driver of the container truck, I Damodaran (50) of Theni district, parked his vehicle carrying an earthmover, in front of a scrap shop at the exit of the flyover towards Velappanchavadi around 1 am and was talking to his friend Peter Rajkumar of Poonamallee.
An empty truck exiting the flyover from Poonamallee rammed the container truck at the maddening speed from behind in which the driver of the truck I Murugan (40) of Tirunindravur died on the spot.
Due to the impact of the collision, the parked container truck moved forward and hit Damodaran and Peter Rajkumar as they were standing in front of the truck. They too died on the spot.
On information, Poonamallee traffic investigation police rushed to the spot and sent their bodies for investigation. A case has been registered and further investigation is on.
