Thanjavur police on Monday arrested three persons who had dragged a woman professor to a distance while snatching her chain recently.

Thanjavur: They recovered the 12 sovereign chain and seized two bikes. On March 29, while Gomathy (41),a resident from Parvathi Nagar in Thanjavur, working in a private college in Poondi was proceeding to the college by her two wheeler, she was waylaid by two persons and the duo hit her and dragged her to a distance and snatched away her 12 sovereign chain and escaped. Gomathy who sustained severe injuries was undergoing treatment at Thanjavur Medical College Hospital. Meanwhile, Thanjavur SP G Ravali Priya formed a special team to nab the culprits. The team headed by SI Rajeshkumar studied around 300 footages from CCTV camera and identified the culprits as Jawahar (21) from Sirkazhi in Mayiladuthurai district, Prakashraj (22) and Rajasekar (24) both from Nagapattinam. Subsequently, the team arrested the three late on Sunday and brought them to Thanjavur on Monday. Further investigations are on.
