Congress announces ‘GST padayatra’ from Kovai to Chennai from April 11

COIMBATORE: The Human Rights Department of state Congress has announced the starting of a ‘GST Padhayatra’ rally from Coimbatore to Chennai on April 11. The 18-day rally covering 550 km, will be led by the department’s chairman Mahatma Srinivasan demanding inclusion of petrol and diesel prices within the GST tax framework and reducing the price of cooking gas cylinders, said a statement. The rally will also create awareness among the public of the government imposing higher GST on essential consumer goods, while levying lower GST on luxury goods and services.
