The first bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee and Justice P D Audikesavalau before whom arguments prevailed stated that the order will be pronounced on Wednesday (August 25) at 2 pm. During the hearing, based on the details sought by the court about the 10% reservation earmarked for the that goes against even the Centre’s cap of 50% reservation, Additional Solicitor General KM Nataraj submitted that EWS has constitutional backing (103 amendment) and the reservation has been worked out on the basis of seats to be increased in colleges. However, to a pointed question raised by the Chief Justice, the ASG refused to dwell further on the issue.
