Actor Rajinikanth convenes RMM district secretary meeting to discuss re-attempt to enter politics

Six months after announcing that he would neither enter politics nor launch a political party, actor Rajinikanth on Monday chaired a meeting with the district secretaries of Rajini Makkal Mandram (RMM) to discuss re-attempting to venture into politics.

Just before going to the meeting, the actor, at his Poes residence in the city, said that he would discuss with his RMM district secretaries and office bearers whether to enter politics in the future or not.

A detailed statement from the superstar with regard to the political entry plan is expected either in the afternoon or in the evening. The RMM meeting also assumes significance as civic polls are likely on the cards very soon in the State.

Sources from RMM said that Rajinikanth would also discuss with each RMM district secretary separately to get the suggestion and feedback about the feasibility of entering politics.

In addition, the meeting would also appoint RMM district secretaries, which were vacant in several regions. Rajinikanth had recently completed his Annaatthe movie assignment. The actor also went to the US for a health check-up and came back to Chennai a few days back.

In December 2020, the 71-year old actor was briefly hospitalized in Hyderabad for fluctuations in blood pressure.

He was discharged few days after the treatment and came back to the city to announce that he would neither enter politics nor launch any political outfit citing his ill health and the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
