In a resolution adapted to this effect at the meeting of the party executive committee at Sathyamurthy Bhavan, the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee has sought stringent action against whoever publicly criticizes the party through media in a manner it brings disrepute to the party and the leadership. The resolution has been passed close on the heels of a few Congress functionaries, especially Sivaganga MP Karti Chidambaram and state working president Mohan Kumaramangalam criticising the recent revamp of the party organisation.

Highlighting the significance of promoting the party through media, the resolution, without naming anyone, said that there is a growing and widespread trend of some party members publicly criticizing the functioning and decision making of the party through the media. “Such unhealthy practices should be stopped immediately,” the TNCC executive committee resolution read.

It also threatened to organise a massive protest in front of the CBI office in the city if the investigating agency does not take steps to vacate the stay on launching probe against Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and commence probe against three AIADMK Ministers before the end of January. Accusing the central agency of not taking steps to vacate the stay on the probe against the CM, TNCC said the ruling BJP was threatening the AIADMK and holding political negotiation using the case in connection with irregularities committed to the tune of Rs 3,500 crore in the Highway Department.
