DMK calls for party functionaries meet on Dec 20 to fix campaign strategy

DMK president MK Stalin would chair the discussion involving party district, union, city, area and town panchayat level secretaries at party headquarters Anna Arivalayam on Sunday, December 20, said an announcement made by the party general secretary Duraimurugan, describing the meeting agenda as 2021 Assembly poll campaign.

The December 20 meeting is expected to discuss the personal visit of Stalin who has been interacting with his party workers largely through video calls. Since the beginning of the Corona-induced lockdown in March last, Stalin has attended only two major events, annual Thevar Jayanthi in Pasumpon and visit cyclone-hit places in delta districts and Cuddalore last week, in a far off town in person.

Even the general council and district secretaries meetings were only held through video calls. The discussion has been announced close on the heels of the DMK chief’s very brief hospitalization owing to a minor illness (low BP) during relief distribution work in his Kolathur constituency here a few days ago.

DMK principal secretary KN Nehru had recently announced that Stalin would launch his campaign and meet voters for the Assembly election from early January.

The DMK high command has already deputed 20 prominent party speakers to address Vidiyalai noki Stalinin kural (Stalin’s voice for the dawn) 1,500 special meetings covering 15,000kms in the state to compensate the absence of its leaders on the field.
