Delta ryots have also reached out to the public demanding support. Digital campaign through social media and tweets expressing solidarity with the farmers protesting against farm bills were also circulated on Wednesday.

RYoungsters based in Cuddalore also created a few web pages sharing the plight of the agitating farmers. A tweet named voice of Cuddalore said: “no matter how you treat them, they treat you in the farmers’ way” with pictures of armed force caning the farmers and a farmer giving water to a police person at the protest site. About a dozen social welfare associations also came together for a zoom meeting followed by Pan India press conference expressing solidarity for farmers comprising speakers from Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

“The Delhi protests expose the total collapse of governance and the farming community which is the largest community is anguished over the recent farm bills, but the Centre has not understood the issue,” retired chief secretary of Haryana MG Devasayaham said addressing the event. The government promoted monopoly in telecom, petroleum and aviation.

Now their focus is farming sector and using of water cannons and hapless farmers is barbaric, the retired bureaucrat said.

“The Centre should hold talks and repeal the controversial farm and electricity bills and it is sad to see the way the farmers are dealt in Delhi,” said Jaya Raj, a resident of Madhavaram who is sharing WhatsApp messages expressing solidarity with farmers.
