C Muniyanathan, the monitoring officer for Nagapattinam who inspected relief camps established across the district, instructed officials to ensure clean environment and uninterrupted basic amenities. Subsequently, he visited the coastal regions in the district and asked the fishermen to move to safer places, as the cyclone impact would be more severe in these areas. He assured the people that the district administration was fully prepared to help them and has deployed zonal officials to monitor the damages, if any, in the aftermath of the cyclone landfall. He also urged the people not to spread any rumours about the cyclone.
