“The fever camps will be organised at workplaces between 3 and 4 pm and the evening camps will be conducted between 5 and 8 pm. Around 500 such fever camps are being conducted presently,” Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan said.
The Corporation has also modified its containment zone strategy following the increase in cases. Even a few days ago, the city was free of containment zones, but now, the civic body has converted more than 40 streets into containment zones in less than a week. “We would usually convert streets into containment zones if 3 or 5 index cases were reported. Now, zonal officials have been instructed to convert streets to such zones if two or even three cases are reported or there is fear of it becoming a cluster,” Corporation Commissioner G Prakash explained.
Radhakrishnan and Prakash, along with civic officials inaugurated the second phase of sero-survey on Thursday. Radhakrishnan said that the second phase would focus on slum areas.
