No by-elections in Tamil Nadu: Election Commission

The Election Commission has decided that there would be no byelections in Tamil Nadu and also West Bengal, Kerala and Assam.

All the four states had sent a missive to the EC explaining the un-conducive scenario in their states because of the prevailing pandemic crisis.

EC has concluded that only under the volition of the state governments observing the situation in their states, would take the call on holding byelections.

Gudiyaatham and Thiruvottriyur are the two constituencies in Tamil Nadu that are vacant with the ceiling period of six months over it will stay vacant.
