Iridium seized in Thoothukudi
Special police teams arrested four men and seized 144ml of Iridium, a chemical metal, in Thoothukudi on Sunday.

Superintendent of Police S. Jeyakumar acting on a tip off from Thangam, resident of Muthaiyapuram laid a trap. Thangam was contacted by the gang to arrange for sale of Iridium packed in in six tubes. Special teams led by Thoothukudi rural DSP Ponnarasu and Sipcot Inspector of Police Muthu Subramanian busted the hideout of the gang inside a car at Vattakoil near Thalamuthunagar and confiscated Iridium from them. Besides, sword and machete, compact disc and vehicle used by the gang have also been seized. The arrested were were identified as Vaithiyalingam of Karaikudi, Muthuramalingam of Mudukulathur and Mariyathas and Murugan of Thoothukudi, the SP told reporters.
