    AIADMK coordinator and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam and Chief Minister and Co-coordinator Edappadi K Palaniswami in a joint statement here said Thirumanavel was expelled from the primary membership of the party for anti-party activities and for acting in a manner that brought disrepute to the party. They also advised the party cadres not to have any links with him. Meanwhile, Thirumanavel, along with another accused, surrendered before the Saidapet Metroplitan Magistrate Court Monday morning after police registered cases against them in connection with the murder of Selvan.

    Meanwhile, tension prevailed at Thandapathu, near Meignanapuram, where Tiruchendur DMK MLA Antiha Radhakrishnan’s car was vandalised in front of her residence on Sunday night. The DMK MLA had been part of the agitation involving family members of the murdered victim Selvan. Thoothukudi Superintendent of Police S. Jeyakumar inspected the damaged vehicle and said the accused have been identified. The accused were S. Jinnah (27) of Aliyar Street, Kayalpattinam and G. Selvanathan (41) of Thandapathu, the SP said.

    Stalin condemns attack

    Condemning the alleged attack on his party MLA (Tiruchendur) Antiha Radhakrishnan. Demanding immediate arrest of the attackers of Anitha Radhakrishnan and establishment of law and order Stalin said that DGP JK Tripathi should pay special attention and also asked the chief minister Edappadi K Palanisawami to pay Rs 50 lakh solatium to the family of murdered youth.

    Stalin said intimidation of people expressing solidarity with the family of murdered youth and assault on DMK MLA Anitha were only attempts to cover up facts.

    Attributing the delay in arresting the accused Thattaarmadam police inspector Harikrishnan to the absence of peace in Thoothukudi, the DMK president, in a statement issued in this regard on Monday, said the intimidation of the people supporting the protestors fighting for justice in the case has raised questions on who were the real accused in the death case?
