“The Ordinance providing 7.5 per cent reservation for government school students in NEET, which was already approved by Governor Banwarilal Purohit, is likely to be tabled by the State government on Wednesday along with two other important Bills,” said sources in Secretariat.

The session would commence on Monday after the venue was shifted temporarily to ensure that social distancing norms that are in force due to the lockdown were followed. Sources said the first day of the session would commence with a condolence resolution for current and ex-MLAs who died between the two Assembly sessions. Recently, DMK MLA J Anbazhagan died due to COVID-19.

Following the condolence resolution, the session would be adjourned to Tuesday when the opposition are expected to raise the issue of NEET. “Intense debate is expected from opposition parties over the NEET issue, as three students died by suicide on the same day. DMK MLAs have submitted 25 resolutions to party president MK Stalin, who would take the final call on the number of resolutions to be taken up in the Assembly,” said sources.

The number of days of Assembly session will be decided in Business Advisory meeting to be held on Monday.

Sources added that the Bill on converting late chief Minister J Jayalaithaa’s home in Poes Garden into a public memorial and supplementary budget on Rs 7,000 crore expense due to COVID-19 are likely be tabled on Wednesday.
