TN CM offers financial aid to kin of Ariyalur student who died by suicide over NEET exam
In his statement, the Chief Minister conveyed his condolences to his family. He also stated that the Tamil Nadu Government would take care of students’ wellbeing at all times.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami announced on Thursday that the family of Vignesh, who suicided over NEET exam would be provided with Rs 7 lakh as a financial aid. He also said that a family member would be given a Government job as per their education qualification.
In his statement, the Chief Minister conveyed his condolences to his family. He also stated that the Tamil Nadu Government would take care of students’ wellbeing at all times.
He requested the parents to identify the children's wishes and guide them accordingly.
Although he didn't acknowledge the demand of the parents to not conduct NEET exam, he advised the students stating that 'anything can be achieved with willpower and hard work'.
Earlier, the family of the deceased protested and refused to get the body. They said that the protest would continue until the demands were met.
On Wednesday, Vignesh, who was preparing for NEET exam jumped into a well in his neighborhood after the Supreme Court dismissed all the pleas filed to postpone the exam.
Moreover, GK Mani, President of PMK, announced Rs 10 lakh as financial aid to the family of the student. Earlier, the party members extended their support to the family by participating in the protest.
