A senior official from the directorate that is conducting engineering admissions said the verification of certificates and documents submitted online was over. The merit/rank list would be released by the Higher Education Minister KP Anbalagan on Monday, he added.
Though 1,60,834 aspirants had enrolled online for admissions, only 1,14,206 have uploaded their documents. For the first time, all original certificates were verified online this year as a precautionary measure to avoid students visiting the designated centres in person amid the pandemic. The rank list was prepared based on the marks obtained by the students. After the list is released, the multi-round counselling process would start from September 17.
“Soon after the release of rank list, students would be able to select their choice of courses and colleges. Based on the availability of seats, admissions will be given to the students according to their choice during the counselling process,” said the official.
Usually, five to six rounds of counselling are organised, with more than 10,000 students attending each round. However, the authorities are considering an increase in the number of rounds to ensure that norms social distancing is followed during the counselling sessions, the official said. Hence, there would be more than 10 rounds this year given the pandemic norms and safety measures, he added.
