Revise voter rolls before polls: DMK

The DMK on Wednesday sought clarification from the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) regarding the special summary revision of photo electoral rolls 2021 for the ensuing Assembly elections. The party also asked the CEO to ensure proper implementation of the directives issued by the Election Commission (EC) in this regard.

In his representation made with the CEO, DMK organising secretary RS Bharathi cited a EC letter directing the CEO to follow each of its directives by giving due opportunity to the recognised political parties in a transparent manner and said the office of CEO has not so far given any notice about the preparation of Special Summary Revision 2021 to DMK as on date.

Describing preparation of summary revision from August 10, as first and important step towards free and fair polls, Bharathi accused the CEO of neither following nor implementing EC directives.
