Farmers stage black flag protest against land acquisition in Kanchi

On Monday morning, the farmers gathered at a farm in Sithavaram village near Uthiramerur and raised slogans against the government by holding black flags. They claimed that the State and Central governments should give up the plan for the eight-lane road from Chennai to Selam. They claimed that most of the farmers are being affected because of this express highway. The Uthirameur police and revenue officials who visited the spot held talks with the protestors and requested them to wait till the court gives its judgment on their petition.
