Friends on joyride meet with accident, 4 dead and one critical

Police identified the deceased as S Indiresh (22) from Seeranaickenpalayam, R Karthik Raju (22) from Flower Market, V Mohan Hari (23) from Vadavalli and N Manikandan (22) from north Coimbatore, while R Prajesh (22) suffered injuries and is undergoing treatment in Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH).

According to the police, the five friends decided to go on a long drive while returning after attending a birthday party of their friend in Kavundampalayam area. Indiresh, who was behind the wheels, allegedly drove the car in a rash and negligent manner, officials said. While nearing Kalaiyanur on Coimbatore- Anaikatti Road, Indiresh lost control and crashed the car into a tree around 4 am on Friday. Thadagam police found four persons to have succumbed to injuries on the spot, while Prajesh was shifted to the hospital in critical condition. The bodies of the deceased persons were sent for post mortem examination at CMCH.

Of them, Indiresh and Prajesh were studying in a private college, while Karthik Raju was a realtor, Mohan Hari was working in a textile shop and Manikandan was unemployed. A case has been registered and further investigations are on.
