    Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami extended greetings and well wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on laying foundation stone and Bhumi Puja for Ram temple in Ayodhya.

    He quoted former CM J Jayalalithaa voicing in favour of building Ram temple in 1992, when tensions soared between Hindus and Muslims in India.

    Last year, the Supreme Court put an end to the impasse of almost 30 years by ruling in favour of a Ram temple in the disputed site and granted 5-acre land for Babri Masjid.

    Meanwhile, the Ayodhya mosque trust was formed on July 29 under the name of 'Indo Islamic Cultural Foundation' by the Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Waqf board.

    The trust is said to have 15 members and mosque would be built 25 kilometres from where it stood.
