Pondy Raj Nivas shut as staff test +ve, L-G takes test
A staff member of Raj Nivas in Puducherry has tested positive for the coronavirus on Wednesday and the Lt Governor’s residence and office will remain closed for two days.

According to a Raj Nivas release, as per Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), the contact tracing has been done. The primary contacts in Raj Nivas have been identified and they will be sent for testing. Though, asymptomatic, they have been home quarantined. Following it, Raj Nivas is being disinfected.
The lone staff member, who tested positive, has no access to Lt Governor Kiran Bedi and her personal office and she is safe and healthy. However, as a precaution, Bedi and staff attached to her personal office were also being tested later in the day, the release added.
Single day high of 112 reported
Meanwhile, in the Union Territory, as many as 112 persons tested positive for coronavirus since the last 24 hours taking the total number of active cases to 553.
In a video clip sent to media, Minister for Health Malladi Krishna Rao said 112 coronavirus positive cases is the highest ever reported in the UT in a single day. Karaikal region also reported 25 cases in a single day, he added.
The Minister said that so far 21,865 sample tests were taken and the result of 447 tests are awaited.
The Minister also said that he had recommended to Chief Minister to impose a total lockdown in Puducherry on Sundays and he will announce it later in the day or on Thursday.
The administration is contemplating to arrange one more mobile Ambulance for COVID-19 testing in rural constituencies, Rao said.
According to the COVID-19 status released by the Puducherry Health Department on Wednesday, 79 persons tested positive in Puducherry region, 25 in Karaikal and 8 in Yanam. Of them, 72 were admitted to the Government Medical College, 7 to Jipmer, 25 to Karaikal Government General Hospital and 8 to Yanam Government Hospital. Nearly 69 persons were discharged from hospitals after they have recovered in the last 24 hours.
Of them 34 patients were discharged from the Government Medical College, 21 from Jipmer, 8 from COVID Care Centers (CCC) in Puducherry, two each in Yanam and Mahe Government Hospitals and two from government hospital outside Puducherry in Villupuram district of Tamil Nadu.
At present 353 persons are being treated at the government Medical College, 109 in Jipmer, 31 in CCC, 33 in Karaikal GGH, 7 in Mahe GH and 20 in Yanam GH for the infection.
