Rise in coronavirus cases in 7 TN districts
Vellore, Madurai, Pudukottai, Tirunelveli, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu and Tiruvallur districts in Tamil Nadu recorded increase in COVID-19 infections in the last 12 hours.

260 cases piled up in Madurai on Tuesday with total tally reaching 4,640 followed by Chengalpattu with 147 new ones leading to 7,000 cases, Vellore with 99 fresh positive cases leading to 2,225 cases and Tirunelveli with 56 new cases piling up to 1,205 cases.Â
Samples from 216 people in Tiruvallur turned out positive on Tuesday taking the district total to 5,199.Â
Kanchipuram recorded 2,783 cases with 54 new additions. Pudukottai witnessed 42 positive cases amounting to 417 infections in the district.
- Madurai - 1070 recovered, 3199 active cases
- Tirunelveli - 91 recovered, 416 active casesÂ
- Vellore - 854 recovered, 1,371 active cases
- Kanchipuram - 1,715 active cases
- Chengalpattu - 3,766 recovered, 2,958 active cases, 128 deaths
- Tiruvallur - 3,217 recoveries, 1,882 active cases, 100 deaths
COVID-19 tests were being done in 49 government and 46 private labs all over the state, according to TN health ministry bulletin.
