“District Collectors raised concerns about the zonal system of transport that is currently in place. They informed that tracing the movement of those infected from one district to another becomes tedious. Taking into account the difficulties faced by the district administrations, intra-zonal travel will not be permitted and people will be allowed to travel only within the districts from Thursday till June 30,” said Chief Minister, while addressing the public.

To contain the spread and to restrict the movement of people across the State, the zonal system was implemented by the government during the fifth phase of lockdown, which began on June 1. However, this move was opposed by district Collectors due to frequent movement of patients across the zone, establishing contact with others outside their native districts.

“ If anyone needs to travel from one district to another, e-pass should be obtained. The rule will also be applicable for public transport as buses will be operated within the districts alone, from Thursday to June 30.
