Opposition parties slam BJP over OBC quota issue
The opposition has found a fresh handle to ‘isolate’ the ruling BJP with the observation of Supreme Court on reservation not being a fundamental right.

Though State BJP leaders attempted to deflect the opposition bards by popularising its national president JP Nadda’s statement reiterating its commitment to social justice, pro-reservation Twitterati and the Opposition had done enough damage to the BJP in the Dravidian land already.
The hashtag #BJPbetrayedOBC was kept buzzing by the left-leaning Twitterati and supporters of the opposition parties.
Statistics ‘released’ by All India Federation of OBC Employee’s Welfare Associations about allotment of UG/PG/Dental seats during the last four years was causing unrest on social media. Just when the argument appeared to gradually lose momentum, the ruling AIADMK, an ally of BJP, had helped the Opposition by moving the High Court for implementing 50 per cent reservation for OBCs in medical education. PMK, another BJP ally, has also been contributing to the pro-reservation chorus which nearly isolated the saffron party.
However, BJP secretary R Srinivasan said; “It is not a political decision. Unlike SCs, OBC classification varies from state to state. In Tamil Nadu, I belong to BC community, but it is OC outside and hence the confusion and it exist since 2006.”
