    COVID-19: Over 1,400 people reach Tamil Nadu from Maharashtra through special train

    About 1,400 people from Maharashtra reached Vizhuppuram, Tamil Nadu recently through a special train. They were received by Vizhuppuram District Secretary Annadurai and District Police Supervisor Jayakumar in the railway station.

    The people were sent to their native places in Tamil Nadu by the government officials through special buses after undergoing a quick test for Covid-19. 

    Tamil Nadu remains as one of the highly affected states in India due to the novel coronavirus, the state reported 1,989 fresh cases in the last 24 hours alone. The total tally stands at 42,687, according to the state Health Department. Over 397 have died in TN due to the virus. 

    On the positive side, 1362 patients were discharged from various hospitals in the state, taking the total number of recovered patients to 23,409. The number of active cases in Tamil Nadu now stands at 18,878.
