TN clocks 1,500 plus COVID-19 cases again, Chennai crosses 23,000 mark
The number of coronavirus cases in Tamil Nadu continued its upward trend on Monday, going past the 1,500 mark for a second consecutive day as the total infections crossed 33,229.

17 deaths were reported, taking the toll from the deadly virus in the state to 286, a Health Department bulletin said.
With 1,562 new patients on Monday, the cumulative tally stood at 33,229 and the active cases at 15,413, it said.
Chennai remained at the top among the 37 districts, as it recorded 1,149 of the fresh cases, taking its total to 23,298, followed by Chengalpattu (1,988 cases) with 134 additions, Tiruvallur (1386) with 57 additions and Kancheepuram (534) with 18 additions.
On the positive side, 528 Covid-19 patients were discharged from various hospitals, taking the total number of cured persons to 17,527
So far, 6,07,952 samples have been taken for testing. COVID-19 tests were being done in 44 government and 33 private labs all over the state, it said.
With the number of cases showing a steady increase, the government asked the general public to adhere to health and travel advisories issued by it.
The number of infected children in the age group 0-12 went up to 1,765.
