    50 cases were reported in Chennai district alone, on Sunday, as the State witnessed an increase in coronavirus positive patients.

    Tamil Nadu on Sunday reported a sharp increase in the number of Covid-19 patients with 105 persons diagnosed with coronavirus infection over the past 24 hours taking the total tally to 1,477.

    After reporting lower numbers in the last couple of days, the state has reported a drastic increase in the new infection numbers.

    Included in the new cases are three doctors, one police Sub-Inspector and two journalists.

    It is learnt one journalist is working with a Tamil daily and the other one works in a television channel.

    The government also said 46 Covid-19 patients have been discharged on Sunday across the state taking the total number of discharged to 411.

    It has also announced restarting of property registration activities.

    According to the government, only four registrations will be allowed in an hour and social distancing should be maintained.

    The state government also said that the existing lockdown restrictions would continue in the state, till Chief Minister K. Palaniswami decides otherwise.

    The government said the expert committee that has set up to recommend the industries/business establishments that can restart operations will be meeting later on Sunday and give its report to Chief Minister on Monday.

    The Chief Minister will take a decision based on the expert committee report. Till such time, the existing lockdown restrictions would continue, the statement said.
