Days after coming in contact with a woman who had tested positive for coronavirus after being released from a Islamiah college, Labour Minister and Vaniyambadi MLA Nilofer Kafeel has isolated herself since Tuesday, sources revealed.
Tiruvannamalai
The incident was reported in DT Next on April 14. This comes after the Minister being advised by her son and daughter, who are doctors themselves, to refrain from mingling with the public. Sources revealed that a call from Chennai which reiterated the isolation message was the reason why she was quarantined for the last two days.
Meanwhile, officials said that they have isolated relatives/ friends of attendees of a marriage in New Delhi as a matter of caution. “We did not want to take risk and the affected community also provided all cooperation,” a top official said. To ensure that people remain indoors, Tirupattur Collector MP Sivan Arul said that they had proposed to lockdown Vaniyambadi town from Thursday. Referring to the lockdown, the Collector said, “While we close all side streets to make people stay indoor, we made provisions for emergency routes to deliver vegetables and groceries to houses in Ambur. We will follow the same in Vaniyambadi so that the public is not put to any hardship.”
