COVID +ve TN woman delivers healthy boy

A team of doctors carried out the caesarean delivery at the Perundurai IRT Government Medical College Hospital, designated facility for COVID-19 cases, on Saturday night, they said. 

She is among 14 women undergoing treatment at the hospital for coronavirus. The new born was ‘healthy’, officials said. The 32- year old woman had tested positive on April 9. One of her family members, who returned from Delhi, tested positive. 

“Since then her family was under home quarantine as a precautionary measure. As she too tested positive, she was admitted to Perundurai IRT Government Medical College Hospital,” said an official. Doctors said that both the mother and baby are doing well and are under observation. More than a lakh have been under home quarantine in the district.
