Govt notifies over 100 pvt hosps to treat corona patients

However, State Health department has directed the hospitals to provide treatment only as per the directed protocol of the government.

After certain patients had expressed their choice to get treated for COVID-19 in private hospitals also, the State government has issued a list of approved private hospitals across the State who can accept and treat the COVID19 patients at their own cost. 

“Considering the spread of coronavirus in the State, the government has decided to include the private hospitals in the State for treatment to COVID-19 patients to prevent the spread of the communicable disease,” the order said. The list of approved hospitals will be updated from time to time as per the arising need 

The hospitals have been directed to follow the treatment protocol prescribed by the Government of India from time to time. The private hospitals are required to send daily reports of the treatment given to the patients and the health condition of the patient to the Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine.

Health Secretary Beela Rajesh on Saturday stated that the private hospitals were instructed to keep isolation facilities ready and they will be treating the 19 patients as per the government protocol. "We are holding a video conference with all private hospitals every day to assess the treatment protocols and reviewing the preparedness. We are also holding a training on handling the patients at the hospitals for the private hospitals daily," said Beela Rajesh. A total of 11 private hospitals in the city including Fortis Malar, Voluntary Health Services, Prasanth Hospital, Billroth Hospital, Kanchi Kamakoti Child Trust Hospital, CSI Kalyani General Hospital, Kauvery Hospital, Miot Hospital, Vijaya Hospital, GEM Hospital and Dr Kamakshi Memorial Hospital have been approved. Already, all the government medical colleges, district headquartered hospitals and key sub-district hospitals are under the notified list of authorised hospitals for the treatment of COVID-19 patients.
